Thanks Aussielass  Smiley
I've just found a reference on British History Online saying the Cox family kept an inn called The Windsor Arms that was next to the church so I was pleased to find the occupation of publican.  Was there anything to say whether James was unmarried or widower as in 1841 there was a William age 20 with Elizabeth and I'm trying to work out if he was a grandson.
Best Wishes, Carmel

Hi Carmel

Here is the complete entry.

1851 Census
H0107/1708 Folio 18 Page 7
Wendy
Cambs

COX Elizabeth, Head, Widow, 81, Publican, born Wendy, Cambs
COX James, Son, Married, 57, Weelwright (sic) born Wendy, Cambs
HUFFER Susannah, Servant, 22, House Servant, born Steple Morden, Cambs

It definitely says that James was married and there are no other COXs living in Wendy in 1851.  However it is not unheard of for widow(er)s to be recorded as married.

Thanks Rick.  My internet satellite dish or modem doesn't seem to like the heat so rarely have access now that summer is in full force but I will look into this when I get a chance.  Have a wonderful Christmas and Best Wishes for 2009
