The Clyne family
« on: Friday 12 December 08 21:24 UTC (UK) »

My partners surname is Clyne and her ancestors came from north-east Scotland. However, there is a large Clyne community in central Ireland. Is there a link between the two areas or have they lived in ignorance of each other?

Hi Firthview. My partners father,John, was from Glasgow and if he was alive now he would be in his 80's. His parents lived in the Glasgow area but most of his older relations came from the north east of Scotland. John moved to the Birmingham area and married a local girl in the 1940's. I am collating more information regarding the family although as my original post indicates, I am particularly interested to find out if there is a link between the Scottish and Irish Clyne's.
