Hi Bill,

Sorry to confuse you, that should have read "Newbold on Avon is only 2 miles from Long Lawford", have edited the post   Embarrassed

On the 1891 census the two birthplaces are Edwin - Stanwell Middx and Benjamin - Newbold on Avon, in the 1901 census Benjamin - Hanwell Middx and Edwin - Long Lawford, I just think they've been swapped round by mistake

Thanks again Barbara, as you say they certainly moved around a lot for a firewood manufacturer, (highly skilled job that) Roll Eyes.
also noticed John Thomas was entered as being born in New Cross, SURREY, New Cross is in London S.E.14 now, perhaps it was listed as part of Surrey in 1880 when he was born.

Still trying to find them in 1881... have tried under all sorts of possibilities, have you had a look for them?

Will have another good look this afternoon, they should either be in the New Cross area or Warwickshire, going by the two sons' birthplaces in 1891 census, but as you say, firewood manufacturer, may have been anywhere or maybe under a different name
