Hello,

My great great grandparents were James Gleeson and Ellen Shannon (or Shanahan) both born around 1825.

They lived in Kildare and i have found the births of their children born in Kildare but on the 1901 census Ellen Gleeson states that she was born in Co Tipperary.

I know that both Gleeson and Shannon are very common names in Tipperary and can only assume that both of them originated in Tipperary.

Their eldest son was called Michael.

James worked as a milesman on the GS&W railway in Kildare.

Does anyone have any idea as to where to start the search in Tipperary bearing in mind that i have no parish or townland to go on. In fact apart from the cnesus information for Ellen i have nothing linking them to Tipperary.
