Little Paxton 19th c. maps.
« on: Monday 15 December 08 12:39 UTC (UK) »

Hi all.

Does anyone have access to any maps containing Little Paxton between 1861 and 1881?

I am trying to work out where my Gt Grandmother Lucy Sears lived by tracing the census walk route. I have all three of the censuses transcribed but obviously they don't match exactly in places.

I've looked at OldMaps. The maps there do not seem to have sufficient detail to identify individual cottages.

Thanks All in advance.

Hi Paul

There is this site, but you would struggle to find individual cottages on it. But you might be able to work something out going by the names of some of the pubs etc

Thanks Ricky,

That one's a little better then the one on OldMaps but you're right, a little higher resolution would be of great help.

Perhaps someone who knows the area might help.

My main problem is that I have almost half a dozen easily recognisable landmarks in 1881 matching nicely with the 1871 along with some surnames in the other properties. Sadly the 1861 is difficult to match up.

Once I have them matched I'll take a trip there to try to track down where she lived. Its about an hour's drive but I'd like to go prepared.
