unusual occupations on the census
« on: Wednesday 05 August 09 19:48 UTC (UK) »

I came across this when looking at the 1881 census for Keighley Yorkshire and it made me chuckle!!!

Sarah Hall, wife of the household, occupation listed as "the missis".

Has anyone come across any other 'unusual' occupations??? Smiley

I saw one the other day, under wifes occupation it said "Nothing" !

I have one somewhere that under a mans occupation it says "Traveller & Drunkard" (dont think the head of the house liked him, I think it was a boarding house if I remember correctly)

LOL thankfully neither of these were mine, just on same pages!
