Hi Judy

Welcome to the the world of Kirkcudbrightshire, English and Welsh ancestors  Smiley

The Scotlands People website only shows David and George to William McAdam and Elziabeth Thomson, both Girthon, as you say.

Have you been on the site and looked at the image of the original entry?

www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk

I'll do some more searching for you  Smiley

There's also a baptism showing on SP and the IGI  for a Jannet McAdam, 20 Jan 1779, Penninghame, Wigtownshire to William McAdam and Elizabeth Thomson.

Whether this is the same couple is difficult to say but Penninghame and Girthon aren't too far apart  Undecided

Here's a parish map of Wigtownshire and Kirkcudbrightshire:

Many thanks re info above .It is quite possible that Jannett is George and Davids sister .Although i know that both David and George were born in Girthon as i have seen the images on Scotland on Line .They could have moved away for a while and then moved back .George i know was a Principle Customs Officer in his adult life David was something to do with shipping and had something to do with Port Mcadam in Gatehouse but do not know any details ,I have no idea what William did .

Have you had a check for William in the MIs for Girthon? I'll look if you've not.

I have been told by Dumfries and Galloway FFHS that William is buried in Buittle alongside George and some of his children of whom most i have found on Scotland on Line exept one Thomas who died 1844 but cannot find him as yet.

I've just found the MI for George, of Barlochan and his family (and father) in Buittle . Nothing in Girthon for your McAdams or  Thomsons.

William died 11 March 1837 aged 89 - no place given and nothing about Elizabeth.
