Was at Powerscourt Co. Wicklow years ago and the gardens were beautiful, even though the main house was just a shell after a fire gutted it. Not sure about estate records but there should be lots about Powerscourt online.

Will be interested to hear how you get on. The gardens themselves are well worth the visit and the house has been restored since I was there.

Hi
Regarding the name Evans, doyou recognise the following names? Richard Ayres (called Earnest) Evans bc. 1861 in Ballinabarney, Co Wicklow and died 1923. Occupation on death certificate = Gamekeeper. Married 22nd October 1879 St Patrick's Church, Wicklow Town to Margaret Doyle bc 1854/60 to Iain Doyle & Esther? I know of 7 children born to them between 1880 & 1896. Margaret, Essie, John, Julia, Mary, Samuel, Ernest.
Any help JMF

Hi Justin,
This family is my son-in-laws family which had researched for him some time ago. He is descended from Julia born 9th April 1886 and died a widow 31st March 1966. They marrid c 1911 dont yet know where it could have been I.O.M. or Wicklow, but cannot find it at present. I knew this Julia she was called Bab and when she died in 1966 she had 80 Grandchildren & 38 Great Grand Chrildren, (Ned Kane, Funeral Director's notes, in my posession)
The following is the memorial in Rathnew Graveyard, Merrymeeting, Rathnew, Co Wicklow: In Loving Memory of | THOMAS CORKISH | St. Dominic’s Rd. Wicklow | who was drowned | at Ballymoney, Co. Wexford | 4th December 1947. | also his son ROBERT CORKISH | who died 29th May 1947. | his wife JULIA CORKISH | died 31st March 1966. | THERESA (TESS) CORKISH | died 24th Dec. 1997 | aged 67 yrs. | R.I.P. | Erected by EVELYN, MARGARET | THOMAS and JOHN.
