Possible death information:
Social Security Death Index:
Edith Shannon, born: 24 Jan 1897, died Jan 1985, last residence Bradenton, Manatee, Florida, state SSN issued Wisconsin (before 1951)
There is a more detailed entry in the Florida death index:
Edith M Shannon, 87, born 24 Jan 1897, died 20 Jan 1985 in Manatee County, Florida
Social Security Death Index:
Constance G. Hutchinson, born 22 Apr 1906, died 16 Jan 1995, last residence Tampa, Hillsborough, Florida, state SSN issued: Massachusetts (before 1951)
From the Florida death index:
Constance G Hutchinson, 88, born 22 Apr 1906, died 16 Jan 1995 in Manatee County, Florida
Here is a link to the Florida Department of Health application for a death certificate: http://www.doh.state.fl.us/planning_eval/vital_statistics/DH_727_INTER_ACTIVE.PDF Anyone can order a copy of a death certificate without a cause of death included and it only costs $5 per certificate.
If that is the correct Constance G. Hutchinson then it would appear that she never married.

Just having another look! Re., post from 'forthefamily' of the arrival into New York in 1930 aboard the Carinthia the person just below Edith May Hutchinson [where name is scored out] is Francis Joseph Shannon, 32, single, a Clerk, born Liverpool, England, visa no 46656, issued at Cobh, I.E.S., Waterford. Nearest relative in country just left: cousin, J. Murphy, Frenystown, Kilkenny. Last stay in USA 1920 to 1922 in New York. Going to friend Mr Wm H. Murphy, 1 Arden St, New York. Stay to be permanent. This sounds like Edith's future husband, don't you think? I have found Edith May Hutchinson, same ship & same year on a different page - image nos 18 and 19 - the one that was scored out was on page 20. I think her name must have been duplicated.

Again being thick and unfamiliar with the US what is a money order and any idea how I would get one in England?
Cheers
Peter A money order is like the postal order that you can purchase through Royal Mail. I'm not that familiar with your system in England but I believe you can get postal orders in US funds. I don't know whether you can purchase that type of thing at your banks or not.
