Looks to me like CraigenCurr
As far as I know, a Curr is a hill.
I can't find anything about CraigenCurr but there are a number of photos not too far away with a similar name here... http://www.geograph.org.uk/search.php?i=4717156

Hi Lindsay,
I agree with you and Dave that it's CraigenCurr. I've just been looking at the transcriptions my husband and I did last time we were in the Mitchell Library. I have one from 1737 which is recorded as "Craigencur" and one from 1738 which is "Craigencurr, Easter Baronnie". As you probably know the East Barony is the Banton/Kelvinhead end of the parish. I suspect this name has disappeared as I haven't seen it mentioned in later OPRs and neither has my mother (born and bred Kilsyth) heard of it.
Afterthought - I wonder if it was anywhere around the area of the Craigends.
Regards...........Christine

Hi Lindsay,
"My" Stirlings are from Kilsyth as far as I know - this is one of my least researched lines. My great x3 grandmother was Jane/Jean Stirling (b1827, Kilsyth) who married a Peter Comrie in 1845 in Kilsyth. Her parents were David Stirling and Margaret Anderson (m1824, Kilsyth). Any connections?
Regards..........Christine

This is a wee bit off topic but I am in the process of looking at my Forrest / Forest family in Stirlingshire (1553 to 1854). I'm compiling a database of every Forrest birth and marriage and forming them into family groups.
Miller / Millar are there. Elizabeth Millar circa 1740 Margaret Miller circa 1778
Both families were in Campsie
I'd be interested to hear from anyone who has Stirlingshire (or Dunbartonshire) links to any Forrest. The smallest detail might help me.
Once I've completed the database, I intend putting a separate post on RC.

They are of interest although I haven't reached them yet. I'm trying to be as methodical as I can so I don't miss any. I'm still working my way through Stirlingshire. I've got a few links to Dunbartonshire but not many yet.
I'd really appreciate the details but will keep them on hold until I reach Bonhill.
Thanks Dave

Hi Lindsay,
I haven't spent much time researching the Stirlings because like you I can't find much.
I seem to have two separate Millar/Miller lines in Kilsyth. The first I know very little about: Alexander Miller and Marion Fairley (irregular marriage, 1820, Kilsyth). Alexander dies before 1841 so I have no more information on this branch.
The only Agnes Millar/Miller I have found so far was only born in 1793 in Kilsyth. Her parents were Robert Miller and Jean Semple (m1785, Kilsyth). I haven't looked for parents and siblings for Robert yet. Millar/Miller in Kilsyth is challenging, there are so many of them......

Hi Dave,
I wish I was as far back as 1740 with my tree. I don't have any Forrests in my tree only Forresters (from Kilsyth).

Thanks for the reply. At some point in the future I may go on to look at Forrester but so far I've not needed to which surprises me. Dave
