Hi

Can anyone help me or explain why i can't find a death record for my great grandmother it seems that the death records don't cover a huge period of time.  Also can you suggest where i should look for the death record i require.  I know the name, year and place of death.

Are you looking at the full version?     FreeBMD is not yet full coverage - especially for around the 1970s.   The full version is on at least two paying sites - ancestry.co.uk and findmypast.

I'm looking on ancestry I'm a paid up member and still can't find the death record I'm looking for.  Have you any suggestions of where i can look.

If you don't want to publish the name on here then send me a pm and I will look.  Could the surname have alternative spellings?  have you looked a year either side?    I can never remember the exact year my grandparents died so you may find it in another year.

Hi Sandy

The person died in Northamptonshire, but was buried in Birkenhead.  But the registration of the death should have been in Northamptonshire.  But looked under both and still can't find anything.

As I said in my pm contacting Brixworth office might help.  Can't think of anything else unless the year is totally wrong.  Did it need an inquest perhaps?  There might be records of that if so.   Would the informant have known the correct name?
