Death of John Hunt - 1851
« on: Monday 29 December 08 10:43 UTC (UK) »

Hi,
I have information on John Hunt of Ufford, Northamptonshire about his death that I would like to confirm.
I have been told that he died on 31 Jul 1851, after being followed home from the local pub and was shot.  Another person researching the tree is ordering the death certificate, but I am wondering if it is possible that the death may have been reported in a newspaper.  I have no idea on what newpaper would be available in that area.  Can anyone give me a heads up?

Hi Tia

The local paper now is the Chronicle and Echo http://www.northamptonchron.co.uk/

But I have no idea if it was around in 1851- email them and ask  Wink

Also you could try the British Newspaper library to find a suitable paper of the time. http://portico.bl.uk/

Good luck
