Thanks Shane, yes William is Alexander's father but cannot find Alex's birth. The family came from Antrim originally. Alex may have been born there but thought I would try Donegal first as his death certificate said Donegal. I believe his mother Mary died in Donegal Town in 1834 so Alex would have been only a few years old.

there are just two Falconbridge birth/baptism records on the IFHF website (www.irish-roots.ie)
Aramanella Falconbridge 1807 Co. Antrim May Faulconbridge 1905 Co. Tipperary
and one marriage : Thomas Falconbridge 1874 Co. Cork
I dont see any baptism/marriage matches for Glenholm
County Donegal and about 10 other counties are not included on the site at the moment
I see you mentioned looking for a Falconbridge marriage details in one of the other posts - "Catherine Quinn and Alexander Falconbridge, believed to be Donegal around 1867", as this is after civil registration started (1864) this should be available at the GRO - see the website at www.groireland.ie for details.
There one Glenholme entry that I can see in 1846 Slaters Directory
Glenholme Hugh, Charity st, Magherafelt, Co. Derry - Apothecary (also listed under Physicians & Surgeons)

Sorry everyone for the confusion in my postings. It has been pointed out to me that I have had a number of postings causing confusion.
I am tracking the movements of one family which is proving to be monumental.
GR grandfather Alexander Falconbridge, born Donegal, married Catherine Quin in 1867 in Donegal. They and 6 children came to Australia in 1880.
He is the son of William of Donegal, Excise officer (born possibly Coleraine), & Mary Glenholme. William's father or grandfather appears to have been from Prestonpans Scotland and then went to Bridgnorth Shropshire before going to Ireland. (I have info from the non conformist chapel in Bridgnorth).
Brother of William was Dr Alexander Falconbridge, 1760, abolitionist and slave ship surgeon, who resided in Bristol but whose birth place is still unknown. Hope this clears up some of my meanderings.
Thank you to all those who have responded with bits of information, all of which has helped. Sorry again, Valerie.
