hi
    i got a burial record for the wife of john hodson. on the record i have they don't say her forename.   she was buried in Cranford st.john July 3rd 1699. thanks

As you now have the cd rom.  Smiley

Look at the marriages section and see how many John's married in the relevant years before.

Or see if you can find John's burial later.

There maybe more details or it can suggest approx dates.
