Hi all, I have made a resolution to research my Irish ancestors this year so am hoping someone can advise on one of my Derry ancestors.  My great grandfather James Nelson was born in Derry on 18 Apr 1832; his parents were Thomas Nelson, born in England, and mother Rosanna McDonnell, born in Scotland.  A relative had some info that he lived in Cavan before emigrating to the US in 1848.  He may have been married to Margaret Howarth but I'm not sure when or where - he married Rosanna Martin in the US in 1861.  I would like to find out more about his time in Ireland re school or church records, as well as any info on his parents and siblings.  Thanks for any advice....also, I may need to hire someone to help as I have several ancestors from other parts of Donegal also - any advice on a good genealogist there would also br welcome.  Happy New Year to all!
