Death of Nellie Esgate

I am stuck...

Nellie Esgate was born in 1988 in Norfolk.  She married Edward Percy Thorpe in 1909.  They had children together in Upwell, Wisbech (Edward, Nellie, Charles, Mary).  The youngest was born in 1914.  I think Edward died in 1918, in The Infirmary, Stamford, Lincolnshire... but when / where did Nellie die?  Obviously it was after Edward... and I don't think she remarried.   I don't know in which county she died.  I am assuming it was in Cambridgeshire, Lincolnshire or Norfolk, as this is where my family were roughly based.

I don't know of a quick and easy way to find her death, other than to plough through the GRO registers quarter by quarter, assuming you can't find her on FreeBMD

Why should her death have been after Edward (unless she was the informant of his death)? I'd have thought that it had to be at any time after the birth of her last child

I braved a call to a member of my 'family' who remember Nellie living in a home at Downham Market, Norfolk, in the early 1950's.  I am assuming that this is probably correct.
