Dowse/White/Darwent, Sheffield. Early C20
« on: Friday 02 January 09 20:59 UTC (UK) »

Can anyone help fill me in on the family of Lena (Selina) and Frank White. Selina was a Darwent b abt 1873 and married Frank White abt 1897 and they had a daughter- Mabel who married Alfred Dowse in 1936. They had two sons Peter and Keith around the beginning of the war. She married several more times. I know she had a sister but it seems there were other siblings too that I have no knowledge of although we did visit Lena in the war in Sheffield. Frank was dead by then as far as I know. Unfortunately I can't remember what district they lived in.

I didn't have the White family in the '01 census so that is a great help and I currently have only a Find my Past sub which I regret, they have few counties in '01 as yet and of course not Yorks!
I now need to go after '01 so PRs or BMD as I want to check that I am right thinking Mabel is one of theirs, I have problems finding her birth and wondered whether it is one of those where the name she was christened is not the one she was known by. Now I am sure she was a White which helps.
