Hi all,
I posted on this thread many moons ago & it still pops up almost daily in the "new replies to your posts" lists, indicating how much used it is. I may well be wrong, but I seem to remember something about long threads slowing the system down and RootsChat seems over the last few days to be slowing down, so I'm wondering if there'd be any benefit to the whole site in locking this thread and re-starting?

Apologies for being somewhat off-topic, but this seems the best place to ask re this thread.

Apart from those on fast broadband Rootschat has been slow for a long time.Certainly a lot slower than it was 6 months ago.The pre 1837 only, is a permanent topic and it probably gets trimmed often,the moderators will correct me if i am wrong Smiley

started 16 March 2004 and currently runs to 107 pages. It is probably the largest active thread on any board.

I am rather disappointed that the moderator has taken the trouble to split out this message rather than answer the point - surely either yes such a thread slows things down and therefore it's a good idea to lock and re-start or no long threads don't make any difference to RootsChat's speed - I wasn't looking for a debate, which was why I didn't start a new thread. I'll now lock this thread myself as my point has been missed.
