I'm making a flying visit from NE Scotland to the area on Monday 27th January and want to find the marriage entry for David Bignell and Louisa Hessey who married in 1860. Where do I head for in Bucks?
Thanks in advance

Hi
Are you sure these two married each other? They both appear on FreeBMD at www.freebmd.org.uk under reference Mar 1860 Wycombe 3a 419, but two separate extracted marriage records on IGI at www.familysearch.org have (1) David Bignell marrying the other bride on the page, Hannah Lancaster (24 Mar 1860 Prestwood, Bucks) and (2) Louisa Hessey marrying the other bridegroom on the page, Thomas Beeson (26 Jan 1860 Prestwood, Bucks).

I assumed they married each other because David Bignell has a Louisa Bignell with him in the census records. My grandmother, Alice Bignell, was staying with Louisa in Chesham at the time of the 1891 census and that seemed to indicate that she and David married. Have I been jumping to conclusions.

A David (b. abt 1838) and Hannah Bignell are enumerated in Great Hampden in 1881 (RG11/1469/130/8) and in Hughenden in 1891 (RG12/1141/11/15) and in 1901 (RG13/1349/27/10).

The David Bignall (b. abt 1802-1811) who was married to Louisa in various censuses was already with her in Lee, Buckinghamshire in 1841 (family enumerated as Bignal): HO107/41/16/4/2.

Oh thank you - that's more like it, Louisa Fountain. That explains why at least 2 of the children had Fountain as part of their given names. Your help is much appreciated. Thanks
