Does anyone have any information on Hallwood School which is in or near Halton. The school appears to have about 20 pupils and 2 teachers on the 1841 census. I am trying to find further information on Joseph Hall and his father Robert who appear to have taught at this school. On is marriage certificate in 1842 Joseph gives his occupation as tutor and his father as schoolmaster living at Hallwood. However neither are listed in the 1841 census with the other 2 staff or pupils. Witnesses at Joseph's wedding are John Bailey who is one of the staff on the 1841 census and the other is John's wife Ann.Is there a village Hallwood close by that I haven't found where Robert and Joseph may have lived? It would appear that Joseph had 2 brothers John and William and that they were christened in Dewsbury.
Thank you for the information. Sir John died during the late 1700's and I've managed to find a picture of part of Hallwood. I now need to find out when it became a school and when my ancestors went there. Robert's wife's name was Sarah. I have found a Robert Hall married a Sarah Hurst in Manchester on 28/12/1806 which would fit in with the first son born towards the end of 1807 and I have evidence to say that their son Joseph's middle name was possibly Hurst. I've also found a Sarah Hurst christened in Manchester on 13/02/1780 to John and Ann Hurst but nothing more on Robert Hall. However these are all leads rather than anything substantial. Any further ideas welcomed!!

Just to clarify there is a difference between the Village of Halton, which is in Runcorn, and the Unitary Authority of Halton, which covers both Runcorn and Widnes.
