thanks for your reply i would think they would be married around 1799 she was the daughter of thomas dickson holemains a twin born 1784 their first child that we have found was robert henderson kerr born whitecroft 1801 csc

10 Feb 1805 Janet (Mousewald)
13 June 1807 Anna  (Ruthwell)
2 July 1809 Francis Henderson (Ruthewell)
6 Sept 1811 Mary (Ruthwell)
21 August 1815 Annie (Mousewald)

There are other's with a father George but mother's name not mentioned - mainly Torthowald

yes we think there are others there are very close links torthorwald mouswald banks cleughbrae wath fracis wife mary was the daughter of george bell and janet or anna hetherington we have lots og info on the bell family mostly ruthwell we thought george might be related to george kerr and margaret harkness thanks csc

The only marriage showing for a George Kerr (variations) is to a Mary Kirkpatrick. 17 March 1797, Torthowald.

It might be that Mary Bell Dickson and George were not married by a C of Scotland minister and would therefore not show up in any marriage listings.

The main problem of linking your George with the George and Margaret Harkness is that the definite children of George and Mary don't have  these names.

What were Mary Bell's parents' names?

Sorry - got the generations mixed up there!  What were Mary Dickson's parents' names?

There is a marriage for a Robert Dickson to a Jean Bell, Dornock on 3rd May 1781.


Also - I wonder where the Henderson connection came in?
