Marriage Lookup - Wilmshurst/Cambell

Hi,

I'm having another look at some of the information I included when I first started my tree (before I realised I shouldn't take as gospel information from other people's trees!!) and have found myself going round in circles Roll Eyes.

Would anyone be able to help me find a marriage, possibly on 16.1.1809 in Mountfield, Sussex between Thomas Wilmshurst and Philadelphia Cam(p)bell?

In 1841 I find my gt gt gt-grandfather Thomas Wilmshurst (b1819) living with Philadelphia Munday, who I think is his mother (but remarried to Hugh Munday). 

My notes say that Thomas (snr) was born 1781 in Hartfield, Sussex, and according to the census, Philadelphia was born in 1791 in Dallington, Sussex.

If anyone is able to help me confirm any of this it would be fantastic.  I've tried FamilySearch with no success and the Sussex OPC site, but that doesn't seem to be working at the moment.

The SMI has the marriage of this couple at Mountfield dated 6 Jan 1809.  It spells Philadelphia's name without the "P".  There is no other information.

There is no marriage for Philadephia Wilmshurst to Hugh Munday that I can see.

Thanks for looking for me.  Could you tell me if the Campbell had a p in it?

I should have said that in 1841 and 1851 the Munday's were in Kent and Thomas was born there, so I'll try looking at Kent records too.  Hugh Munday's birth place is recorded as N K - presumably not known??!

The spellings/transcriptions of Wilmshurst seem to be infinite - and I can see that Philadelphia's going to be problematic too!! Grin

As far as I can see Stovepipe meant that the Campbell did not have the p in - I read it as meaning the Philadelphia and wondered how that would work!   She is Cambell on that index but of course spellings varied so much in those days and many could not read to check what the vicar put.

 Grin Grin  I nearly asked if it had been spelt Hiladelphia!!!!  I hadn't thought about the P in Campbell  Roll Eyes 

It must be the damp - haven't got my brain in gear yet!

Yes, I meant Philadelphia's surname was spelled with out the "P".  Sorry for the ambiguity.
