Hello, I'm trying to trace two of my ancestors:
Margaret Roger born around 1811 and her husband James Walker born around the same date.
They were married on 27.12.31 at Kinnethmont, Aberdeenshire.
I have looked on Scotlands People but cannot find either of their birth records. Could someone point me in another direction or advise me please?
Thanks in advance
Laura

Hi Laura,
Found these possible matches for your James Walker.
Still looking for 1841 Census and later - will get back to you if I find more unless you already have them. I have a long line of James Walkers in the family so be interesting to see if there is any connection anywhere.
Regards
KBG

Dear Ev,
Thank you so much for looking up James Walker for me.
I have a puzzle to solve - as well as a daughter Jane/Jean, my James Walker and Margaret Roger had at least one other child, called Alexander. However he does not appear on the 1851 census entry, where only Jane/Jean is listed. Alexander is the one I am interested in particularly - he was married in 1865 at the age of 20 to a Margaret Harper - so he should appear on the 1851 census aged about 6... Any ideas?

I agree, I'm confused too. The marriage cert seems to state he was married in 1865 at age of 20. Though it COULD say 30 (though that is still the wrong age, but closer). The marriage cert clearly says parents James Walker and Margaret Walker, nee Roger.
Note- IF he was 20 at the time of marriage he would have been 6 years younger than his bride - which is unlikely, tho not impossible.
I think we have the same person but some of the official dates may be wrong? Is this possible/likely? I'm new to all this!
Thanks again

Margaret Roger is buried at Insch u/p Stone Number 279, along with Jane Walker and James Walker.

There are also a number of Walkers, some of whom may be related.
