McAndrew /Lynch Family
« on: Thursday 15 January 09 22:14 UTC (UK) »

I have just found the marriage in 1844 in Belmullet of Patrick McAndrew and Sara Lynch my great x2 grandparents.  They moved to Scotland some time between the marriage and 1851.  Is any one else researching this family?  I would be happy to share any information.
Also, have a Richard Barett and Mary Lynch as witnesses.

Hello Hipp00

I couldn't but help notice the McAndrew/Lynch posting.

My grandparents were from Gortmellia which is just a bit north west of Belmullet.  Belmullet is where all the BMD's were registered.  I have McAndrews in my family.  The name Lynch is familiar too, but, if I understand correctly from a late friend, was corrupted into Lynsky (or perhaps even from) which is being actively researched.  The Barrett family were from Gortmellia and surrounding areas too.  My own grandfather came to Scotland at the beginning of the 1900's to work and it would be interesting to find that they traveled there together - only a small possibility.

Hello Hipp00

I am researching Mary and Honor Mc Andrew from Mayo who went to Glasgow and married two Loftus brothers.    Their parents were John Mc Andrew and Bridget Mc Kenna.  Does this information connect anywhere to your tree?

Hello Northern Girl
Thanks for your reply.  I mainly know about the McAndrew/Lynch family from 1851 when they are in the census in Dunbar.  They are recorded as being born in Pulcommon Co Mayo, but I believe this to be Kilcommon.  I found the marriage from a birth certificate of one of their children and the Church Marriage Record.  Unfortunately, Patrick and Sarah's parents are recorded as unknown.  My more recent ancestors are Thomas McAndrew 1845, Thomas 1876 and my father 1914.
I've only just started trying to trace my Irish side and finding it quite frustrating!

Cheers
