don't worry! It makes more sense now. However there is a discrepancy between the census age and the year of birth you give.

Well you can search for his birth certificate - that would help with address and parents names which I know you have but it confirms things.

You will not get his parents marriage certificate so it is a case of chasing that one up- and maybe then trying to find Parish records. I have been googling around with not much success really but you could try that.

Were they still in England in 1911? Wondering if you could verify his age with a further census.

best wishes

Thanks - I have been able to confirm Michael & Catherine as Martins parents and the date 26.5.69 in Ashbrook.

How do I chase up the marriage details of Michael & Catherine?

I can only find martin on the 1901 England census - I didnt think you could view the 1911 England census yet??

Sorry for being an ignoramus - I have got to grips with Scottish genealogy research but not anywhere else.

Thanks again for help

1911 is online now - it is a paying site but you can search indexes free. Some counties are not yet available but I have searched in Lancashire so I assume all of it is.

That's great re Ashbrook - I would imagine, going off my own research, parish records would be the way forward. You say you have Michael's death certificate so may be that is the place to start unless they moved around a bit.

It's just dawned on me that the site I gave you might be a good place- I don't think it's too expensive if you are going for one download. It seems too much of a coincidence that Catherine's name is the same and the other possible is Conry. I would risk that one first.

Just go to the site and all will be explained. Cheesy

I don't think that's out yet.

Good luck with the Irish records.
