So far, it's 55 out of 56 all for it. Of course it would be a wonderful extra resource on this site, but for someone shouldering the responsibility for organising it, will be a mighty task! The Aye's have it ... Keith

AFFIRMATIVE and SPOT ON. Congratulations and Condolences. The 'cobweb' of Family History is an ever expanding project and so each and every added part not only adds to, but strengthens the whole. As an 87 year old 'LDS', I have learned a lot about my wife's and my own immediate F/H, plus the countless side lines, but even so, I have barely scraped the surface. My 'way back' lines are in the South Elmham (Suffolk) district and my wife's, the Manchester area. I am member 1160 of the 'Suffolk Family History Society' and they have been of great assistance to me. Again -- congratulations re your efforts, and I trust that your good ship will sail well through both the stormy and the calm seas, bringing your fruitful cargo safely to port. (Another 'Pom' on the Queensland Sunshine Coast)

Hi this is my first post. Just discovered rootschat yesterday and, funnily enough, one of the first things I looked for on this site was a surname interests board so I would definately like to see this happen - I think its a great idea.

Great idea as I have asked for this in the past, but knowing the great deal of work involved with helping with our local society member's interest directory one year, it will take more than one person!
I am researching over 100 names on my own family alone, without my wife's side, so if we average that out to perhaps twenty per person, that is several hundred thousand names.
Spelling, list each name alongside the most common with "see ....." for variants. This seems to be the best way.
Take that as a yes from me!!!
BUT YOU'LL REGRET IT!
Teddy
