by My Daughter. Chatting to find her Roots !

There was a discussion recently about whether or not a table with RootsChatters' Surname Interests would be a good idea: http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,34740.0.html
I came up with this idea of making a table like this, where anybody who wishes, can be included (i.e. optional !)
The RootsChatters' names are hyperlinks to "send this member a message (PM)" (optional)
Areas of Interest could be included in brackets (optional). No brackets means "anywhere" !
Topic: RootsChatters Surname Interest
| Surname | RootsChatters | | BAXTER | Berlin-Bob (Antrim); joe-x; carol1234 (Kent); etc; etc; | | COLEMAN | Berlin-Bob (London & Antrim); JoanX; .... | | STEVENSON | Berlin-Bob (Antrim); FredY (katmandu); .... | | WEBB | Berlin-Bob (Antrim); JonathanW (London); .... | | |
I also volunteered to set it up and maintain it, IF there is enough interest
This is now the big question - Is there enough interest ??
There is quite a lot of work involved, so I thought I would ask you all, in form of a Poll, whether I should do it.
If you have any suggestions, add them here ! for instance: - how to handle spelling variations of surnames
This poll will run for 14 days !

Hi Bob, Funny enough I had this discussion with a freind of mine only last week. If it takes off I hope most members will climb onboard. With over 10000 members surley their has to be the odd link to other familys.

Bob, I don't envy you in your task!
I have been wondering how I would tackle the task of putting the members surname interests in a table. Here are a few ideas you may want to consider:
Use separate pages for each letter of alphabet A..Z. If some get too large, then split down further (ie 'S': SA..SN, SM..SZ).
For alternate surname spellings, include them under the most popular version of the name. By including the alternate spellings, the search button will prove more effective in allowing people to see if anyone with their surnames are in the list.

My reason for digging! A baby nutkin!

I think it would be great. I think at times I am the only person in the world searching for a certain surname. This would help me to see it all organized. Go for it Bob!!
