Dear Ouse Who
[love the sobriquet Grin]

I am interested in the names of those who were refused -  well,  Not for personal family research [my folk never were wealthy enough for consideration to be voters until Universal Suffrage - and even then ''Universal'' only meant males!]   But have come across them in research.

Some of those people are well known to us [sad habitutees of these forums]  & of cause they are white, male,  and the new middle-class ["self-made men" etc] but were turned down for voting? Why?

Presumably, they tried, but didn't meet the requirements?  Perhaps, you needed to ''oil the wheels'' and they didn't have the available cash to pay folks off which seems likely  Cheesy ?

Is there any evidence about why these males would be refused voting rights [unavailable to the rest of us]?

cathy
Ps: should we supply the info to the Daily Wail and give 'em more to be tortured over?
