I am looking for any information on James Dodwell b1800c, he had a son James b1827 who came to Yorkshire, England & married in 1851. He married a girl from Mayo, Margaret Brogan.
On James(1827) marriage certificate it says his father was a farmer. He couldn't read or write when he married.
On one of the census forms his place of birth was given as Ballymote, Sligo.

I know of a few Dodwells who are well documented in the area but unless my branch of the family was disinherited maybe for marrying another religion I can't find a connection.
I've tried everywhere for information.
There doesn't seem to be any trace of them in Ireland.
