Clandestine Marriages by John BERREY (Chester 1736)

Hi all

I've just been looking at the parish register marriages for Mold, Denbighshire.  There are several marriages in the 1736 which have a note indicating the couples were previously married by John BERREY of Chester.    Has anyone come across this fellow before in Cheshire?   One of the marriages I was looking up might have involved the groom being underage so perhaps this would be the reasoning for the "clandestine" part but I'm puzzled why there is a cluster of eight marriages within the space of a few weeks with this notation.
