Dorsetshire Map
« on: Monday 19 January 09 06:08 UTC (UK) »

Hi All, does anyone know where there is a decent Dorsetshire map on the internet, I have found a couple but they are not what I need.  I would like one that shows all villages and how close they all are
Cheers

go to http://www.southernlife.org.uk/dorset/dormain.htm
Theres a large map you can download there

Also
http://www.dorsetrarebooks.co.uk/historic-shaftesbury.htm
Down the bottom is a map 'Map of Dorset 1701 by Robert Morden' (to get it full size - the little magnifying glass didn't show, I had to click off in the white space then back on it)

Both sites say it is ok to download for personal use.

Trying to figure out the Davis family of Winterborne Abbas and where they originated (before about 1780)

Jen they are brilliant thank you
although I am a Poole girl from way back, living in Australia, towns are so far apart and you tend to forget how close villages were way back when.
Cheers
