Searching on Family Search (all resources), Krakofsky in Surname and Poland leads to a submitted entry for Barnet, but there are contact details there - address and this leads to http://www.genealogy.com/users/o/w/e/James-Owen-portland/?Welcome=1075103873 with a contact email, don't know how old the data is though?

Do you have his naturalisation certificate?

National Archives ref: HO 144/1479/341706
Barnett Cracowski from Russia, resident in Manchester, certificate 5002 which was issued on 13th November 1919.

I got someones naturalisation papers a couple of years ago through their digital express service, it depends how many pages there are but for the one I got it cost less than a tenner and there was tons of useful information, for about £18 you can get them in a few hours.

Hi,
I believe Joseph had a brother Harry so possibly the same......
Russia, Germany or Poland I find it very confusing I've browsed many internet sites, then realise when the immigration officials at the time noted so many from Warsaw, it was easier to mark Warsaw due to the communication difficulty apparently.
Thanks

I"ll try and  translate my details but I'm worried that I won't understand the replies even with google translator, the translation isn't always exact. Do you know any other ways of simplyfying this?
Thanks,

Hi Ladylil

Sorry, didn't explain myself well, I thought this could be Jacob, and wondered if it was significant that he stops appearing in the phone book the same year as Joseph changed his name?
