Hi
help needed with Esther Saunders born preston dist Dec 1884. Can you please look her up for me on the 1891 census. Hopefully fathers name should be Thomas. Not sure about any other details.

Janet - when you say Preston District, what exactly do you mean?
Have you found Esther on any census at all?
I ask because I have had a look round and find no suitable Esther on the 1891 or 1901 censuses so I then looked for her birth in 1884 and did not find that either 
Perhaps that is not surprising since on the same day you have asked for help to find her but born in Herefordshire same year.

I got the birth for Esther Saunders for Dec 1884 from freebmd. No I do not really know the area in which she was born only that she gave her fathers name as being Thomas. Cannot find her in the 1901 census. She married in Sandhurst Kent to a Matthew Bird in 1904 cannot find him either in the 1901 census. Know where she and him are buried and the ages on death match the ages that put on the marriage cert 1904 as esther 21 and Matthew 20.
I am stuck but want to go back a bit more!!

Wow! Now I found you have also asked people to look for the same Esther, born 1 year earlier in Lincolnshire. Will there be more such requests with other counties to come?

What I know is that Esther married Matthew Bird in 1904 in Sandhurst Kent and that she put her age as being 21 and Matthew was 20 then and his occupation was a licensed fish hawker. Her fathers name was Thomas Saunders and his fathers name was also Thomas and also a Hawker. I have the 1891 census index for Kent and Sussex and they do not appear on this. I am desperate to find them, they must be somewhere. If you have any better suggestions then I have maybe you could let me know how you would go about this.
Would be pleased of another angle on things.
