Searching for information on the marriage of Thomas Thomson b1833c Glenluce & Isabella Donnon b 1832c Glasserton. Found a marriage on the IGI 2 Aug.1860 Glasserton but the bride was transcribed as Isabella Dorman!! ???Would like to confirm this is the right marriage. Trying to find the name of the parents. Would appreciate any guidance on this.

I'd not discount that marriage it's more than likely transcriber/clerics error. As it was 1860 you should be able to download the cert from Scotlands people that will give you a wealth of info.

Hello Woodlea
Yes do consider mistranscription. I have a Thomasina Dorman born 1905 Dorman, died 1906 as Dornan, both entries on SP. It is Dorman and I have the cemetery record with Dorman. Does help as not being common like Ann & Elizatheth.
May I ask whom Isabella's parent are if you have gotten the certificate.

Hello waiteohman Have not bought the certificate yet but have ordered the micro fiche of Oldluce from the LDS. Not arrived yet. I have penciled in John Donnon & Margaret Douglas for Isabella's parents. Perhaps I will get some prove. Thought the micro fiche a better bet as I may find some other family members.

There is an entry on the Wills & Testaments section of Scotlands People for John Donnan:
John Donnan, 27/12/1859, Crofter, residing at Ravenstone in Parish of Glasserton, Wigtown Sheriff Court SC19/41/11
This together with the 1861 census, adds to what you already have:
Margaret Donnan 70, retired grocer, b. Glasserton Thomas Thompson 27, son in law, blacksmith, b. Glenluce Isabella Thompson/Donnan, 26, daughter, b. Glasserton Margaret Mcc Thompson 4 Months, granddaughter, b. Glasserton
Address: Farm Of Ravenstone Prera To Duelling, Glasserton

For Thomas, this is the most obvious 1841 entry:
Robert Hughan 70, mason Mary Ann Hughan 35 Thomas Thomson 8
Address: Main Street, Old Luce
And in 1851:
James Hughan 48, Blacksmith Employ 91 (as transcribed!) Men & 1 Boy, b. Glenluce Helen Hughan 47, b. Whithorn Agnes Hughan 23 John Hughan 22 Janet Hughan 18 James Hughan 14 Elizabeth Hughan 11 Isabelle Hughan 10 Mary Hughan 10 Thomas Thomson 17, nephew, blacksmith appr. b. Glenluce
Address: Sorbie
As Madpants recommends, that MC will give you the final verification
Monica
PS One of my ggggrandmothers was Durnan from Co Monaghan, can't begin to tell you how many variants I have found of her surname!

Hi MonicaLesl Thank you for all the great information. This must be the right family as Thomas's son John married a Jane Hughan. Wonder why he was living with another family perhaps his parents were dead. The micro fiche may reveal more.
