Zion church Hyde
« on: Wednesday 18 November 09 13:12 UTC (UK) »

Does anyone have any info on the Zion Church, Peel Street, Hyde? My Great Uncle was a member in 1916 and is on the memorial for the fallen of WW1. I can't find a contact number or web site for them. I would like to know more about them and hopefully get a photo of the memorial if it still exists.
Thanks for any help you can give me.

Hi Shammy

The original Zion school and chapel was opened in 1847. It consisted of two storeys with the chapel above the school and was enlarged in 1859.

The large building on Peel Street was opened in April 1899. One hundred years later it was replaced by the modern new church which opened in 2000.

This was extracted from the site below, will see if I can find anything about the memorial
