Frederick and Caroline Burrows Redruth area.
I have found Frederick living in Falmouth Road in the 1891 census.
Would like to know if Caroline was born in Illogan. She will be abt 34 years old.

I have access to the 1901 census but can't find this couple. Perhaps they moved out of the county, or even the country. Nothing is coming up for Caroline, even when you put her birthplace as Illogan.

It does look as if she was born in Illogan though. On checking the marriage, I found Frederick Burrows married a Caroline Osborne in Redruth in 1891. I looked up Carline on the 1891 census where she is living in the Village of Blowinghouse which is in the Parish of Illogan.
1891 Census: Jane Osborne aged 60, Housekeeper, Widow born Breage Elizabeth Osborne, aged 29, single, Tin Miner's Surface Labourer, born Illogan Emily Osborne, aged 29, single, Tin Miner's Surface Labourer, born Illogan Elizabeth Osborne, aged 28, single, Domestic Servant, born Illogan Caroline Osborne, aged 26,single, Dressmaker, born Illogan.

Hi again, sorry I have noticed the discrepancy, although it is on the original census page. They have two daughters of Jane named Elizabeth, although different ages. It is very clear, it definitely says Elizabeth twice. Also, my fault this time, at the bottom of the entry is also has
William, son, aged 7, born Illogan Sidney, son, aged 3, born Illogan Hannibal, 3 months, son, born Illogan
These last three would be too young to be children of Jane so this is really odd.

I have checked on FreeBMD and there was a Hannibal Osborne born in 1890 in the Redruth registration district, if that helps.

I was just in the process of replying to you when I saw your new message.
Did Caroline and Frederick have any children in 1901.
In 1891 census Sydney and Hannibal were grandchildren.
Sydney's mother was Emily and I have left posts about her on Rootschat.
It appears that there is Elizabeth A and Elizabeth J Osborne in 1891.
Will have to see where they are now.

I was not able to find Caroline and Frederick on the 1901.
It said that Hannibal and Sydney were sons, probably a mistake by tne enumerator.
Was Emily unmarried when she had the children, is that why they are down as having the surname of Osborne?
I would think there is a transcription error preventing you from finding Caroline and Frederick on the 1901. I think the only way you will find them is to do it the long way. Just to search for a Caroline, born in Illogen in that year. Although it is lengthy, it has helped me in the past.
Good luck Maryann.

Sorry about 1901 getting in a muddle!
I believe that Emily was unmarried when she had Sydney so I am sending for Sydney's birth certificate which will tell me one way or the other.

Hi Maryanne,
Good Luck with Sidney's cert. Like you I think a few lies may have been told after immigration.
Here is sister Caroline
RG13/2242 Folio 34 Page 16 Broad Lane Illogan
BURROWS Fred Head 35 Mar b Kenwyn Tin Miner BURROWS Carrie Wife 36 Mar b Illogan BURROWS Carwenna Dau 8 b Illogan BURROWS Garfred Son 4 b Illogan
I don't see young William to see who he belonged to I am afraid.
Cheers Kris

Thanks for that information.
I had a look at the 1911 census and just put Osborne and I see that Caroline,Carwenna, Fredrick and Gorfred are mentioned.
Changed the spellings of the men and Caroline.
I will have to decide whether to buy credits to look at the transcription. At least they are cheaper at 10 credits than the original page which is 30.

I put Burrows Broad Lane in a search engine and found Frederick and Caroline Burrows in the St Illogan Burial ground records.
Some time ago I found Andrew who was Caroline's brother there.
