Several villages are listed with an "East End" - it may be something as simple as meaning the east end of the village or the east end of the High Street. So I would suggest that it means the east end of the settlement, out towards where the Free Church Manse stood.

Have you ever looked at the Old Maps site?
http://www.old-maps.co.uk
Use the 'Maps' then 'Gazeteer' button to get to the list of counties and narrow your choice down to Livingstone Village.

I didn't actually say it was marked on the map! I was trying to say that many places in census records have "East End" described in the enumerator's description or in the schedules as part of the address. It may merely be their way of describing where the house/cottage was situated, with no designation on the map. Sometimes all you see is "Cottage" which is really unhelpful if you want to know where that is. Then you have to look at the neighbouring schedules to try to work out where on the enumerator's route it may have been.

From a comparison of the old map and the current OS map, I would have said it might have been closer to the old Main Street of Livingston Village.
