There are a number of entries concerning Rockingham Forest in British History Online for example
http://www.british-history.ac.uk/report.aspx?compid=40220
https://www.british-history.ac.uk/report.aspx?compid=84581
Other relevant information can be found at:

It should be worth contacting the archivist at Northamptonshire Record Office. This was until 1991 located in Delapre Abbey and back in the 14th century the Abbess at Delapre was a member of the Knyvet family who were keepers of part of Rockingham Forest.
Other possible sources are Oundle School, and Lyveden New Bield although both of these are probably too late for what you are searching. Rockingham Castle is privately owned and so unlikely to help.
There are also a number of publications which contain information about medieval industry in Rockingham Forest.

Am I right in thinking Rockingham Castle might hold some records if your family are mentioned there?
I can always visit Rockingham...I was born just down the road!
