Andrew MARTIN 1938 Deanston
« on: Monday 26 January 09 01:13 UTC (UK) »

Andrew Martin moved from Wigtownshire with wife Mary nee Watt to be school master at Deanston school they had about 6 children  I'm lead to believe he may have died in Glasgow about 1896 one of his daughters Janet Agness was my grand mother
would like to find and children still living in the area around  Deanston or Doune

Hi my name is Jan Meanwell I live in doncaster . Andrew Martin was my gr grand father, he was the Head master to Deanston school from 1871 census lived in the school house and was their untill the 1891 census. The 1901 census had his wife  Mary nee Watt was head of the family and her address by then was in Glasgow with her daughter Janet Agness (my grandmother) and son- in- law david Lawson.  I have found that Andrew died in 1896 but ther were other children who may still have family in or around Doune or Deanston The siblings were James 1867, John 1871, Andrew 1874, Robert 1878, Murrey 1882 the last 2 boys went to Glasgow with their mother
I hope to come up to Deanston in May to have a look around so any information you can find I would love If it is easer to email

My dad used to work for a man called Martin who lived in Doune or Deanston - painter and decorator - back in the 60's and 70's. I want to say Bob martin but I think I am getting confused with cat flea collars Grin
