Hi Rootschatters,
Since the 1911 census came online I've managed to resolve the problem of where my great grandmother died.
In 1911 she was living in Roslin Road, OXTON and in 1915 on her death certificate she was living in Poplar Road, OXTON.
Entering Oxton into googlemaps doesn't give me the place on the Wirral, but if I search for Roslin Road I see that in PRENTON this would be very close to a Poplar Road. Would anybody knowing the area be able to confirm that Prenton is the area she was living in.
Second question, if she was buried in Cheshire, which cemetery/churchyard would you expect to be the right one please?
Thanks for your assistance.
Mary

Thanks for that Stan, that has indeed confirmed for me that the streets I was interested in on the census and death certificate, stated to be in Oxton, are now part of Prenton.
Just need somebody who knows the area better now to suggest where she might be buried.

Hi Mary A
Both roads are still in Oxton (Prenton is just used by the post office, as the postal address for Birkenhead).
She could be buried in any number of places.
She could be buried with her spouse. She could be buried at the church she worshiped at.
Locally I would suggest St. Mary's church Birkenhead, or Flaybrick Hill. Nearly all the local churches to Oxton do not have burial grounds.
She may also have been sent to Landican at Arrowe. I live in Oxton, and have family for this period at all three locations, so it really is hit & miss.
What's her name?

Hi and thanks for your reply, I wondered if Flaybrick might be too far away but didn't know more local places.
It's a bit of a long story but I've finally got the correct death certificate for Margaret Anne Lunt who died in 1915 aged 69, the reason why I didn't have it years ago was that I felt sure she would have been living and died in Toxteth Park where she had worked for over 30 years, or even in the Anfield area where her son was living, but after purchasing an incorrect certificate a few years ago I was waiting for something to point me in the right direction.
Her husband died in 1877, less than two years after they were married, leaving her with one child and another on the way, who died eight months after she was born. After all these years I don't believe she was buried with her husband but now I have an accurate date of death I will check this out.
It was only finding she had "crossed the water" before the 1911 census that led to my discovery of where she had died. As her employer died in 1910 and I don't find the rest of his family in the 1911 census, they may have gone abroad and she may have only moved to Birkenhead at that time so she may not have had a regular place of worship.
As her son had a young family himself and money wasn't too plentiful, I wouldn't have imagined that he would have gone to the expense of having her body brought over to Liverpool, although as I said above I will check this out as far as I'm able,*** I was assuming that she would have been buried locally, but maybe without headstone due to lack of money.
Cheshire is a little out of my area and I would be grateful if anybody is able to advise me if there are any burials/M.I.'s or such like available online or would I need to check these in Chester RO?
Thanks a lot Mary
*** Added afterwards - I have a transcript of all Lunts buried in St Mary's, Walton on the Hill where her husband is buried, but there is no entry to match her.

Hi
Burial records for Flaybrick may be at the Wirral Archives and possibly at Birkenhead Central Library. http://www.wirral.gov.uk/LGCL/100009/200111/content_0002046.html Its likely that there are seperate films for C of E, RC and Non-Conformist so knowing her religion might help.
It wouldn't be Landican cemetery as that didn't open until 1934.

Thank you very much, both of you, for that information, it seems like a trip "across the water" will have to be made sometime, perhaps when the weather is nicer to go on the ferry.
I believe her religion would have been C of E.
Best wishes Mary
