Hello everyone, I am new here so bear with me please.
We are planning a trip to Scotland in the early summer and want to visit grt grandparents resting place.
John and Martha Kerr were born in Ireland but lived most of their lives in Slamannan. I know they died here, Is there a way I can find out where their graves are before we make the trip.
Any advice would be very much appreciated.

Hi Pam,
You must have the 'Magic-Touch' - they usually take ages!
Would you mind posting details of their dates of death and the Section and Lair in which they are buried?
This would be a great help in the in-case that anyone else is searching for the same family.
I've attached a wee photo of Slamannan Church, the cemetery adjoins the Churchyard.

I will be happy to let you have the information but havent yet worked out what the in case is.
could you possibly do it for me.
1. 17 Feb 1942. John Kerr aged 73.
2. 8 Nov 1954. Martha Kerr aged 83.
3. 20 July 1966. John Kerr aged 27.
4. 25 July 1966. Mark Kerr aged 69.
All have the same grave.
Section B. Lair 330.
The picture you sent brought a lump to my throat. I can't believe I have gained so much info overnight.

Woops - I just meant it would help anyone else is searching the same family! (It made sense when I typed it!) 
I've photographed all the 'war-graves' in Slamannan Cemetery (Commonwealth War Graves Burials and also Family Stones bearing the names of men/women buried overseas), so I'll have a wee look through them and see if I can find a stone that's near the location of the one you'll be looking for. Might make life a little easier rather than have to plod round the whole place. I don't think there's a Cemetery Section Map at Slamannan and although it's quite small, it could end up taking hours to walk round.

Not at all - it's my pleasure!
There are only 5 CWGC Burials in Slamanannan and fortunately, one of them is in Section B, Lair 194 so won't be very far from yours.
I can post a copy of the photo here if you want, but it would be to your benefit to be able to print out a high resolution copy to be able to see all the detail. It looks as though the stone sits either 2 or 3 rows in from a wall, but in saying that, I think the wall goes round on three sides!! Anyway, if you send me your personal e-mail address by Private Message (don't add it to the thread), I'll send you a copy.
Also, if you go to Multimap (http://www.multimap.com), and key in NS857734 (not forgetting to go to UK maps), that's the exact Grid Reference of the Cemetery - you can zoom in and have a wee look. The 'bird's eye' view doesn't seem to work for this area, but the 'aerial view' does.
Let me know about the photo.

I live near Slamannan and will go and try to get a photo of the Kerr grave. I have relatives in there
too having been born in Avonbridge,

That would be brilliant!
Hopefully there'll be a stone for you to photograph. The CWGC stone above was the best I could do to identify the Section and the Kerr Lair shouldn't be too far away from it.

Hello James.
Do you think you may be related to these people, I think there are still some family members living in and around the slamannan area, Though quite a few of them moved to Lancashire in the first quarter of the 1900s.
Any photos of the area would be very much appreciated to add to our history book.

Nan & Peter,
I'm not related to the Kerr family from Slamannan, my family are all accounted for, they came from Dumfries & Galloway.
I will get some photos for you over the weekend (weather permitting) Slamannan has fallen into some dissrepair in recent years, indeed it will still look the same as it was when your family were alive in the 40s, 50s, and 60s.
