Interested in the name   our Australian name is Roney after immigrants from SSX.
It was Roney in Sussexfrom abt 1830-onwards . before that 3 children in Kent were listed at baptism as Ronny.
Family legend has us down as Huegenots from the Rone Valley. The accent over the E would make it Roney.
The Huegenot Society in Great Britain and Ireland wrote back after searching the Quaro series and the Annual Proceedings and only came up with Peter Rone son of James Rone in London 5 August 1638
many thanks
Ray
