Flour Mill near 22 Chamberlain Street, Poulton

I have found the brother to my great grandmother living at 22 Chamberlain Street, Poulton on the 1911 census. He has listed his occupation as a Flour mill journeyman joiner. Does anyone know of a flour Mill in this vicinity at all please ? I am aware that there are a few place names as Poulton, but the census doesn't stippulate which one, just Poulton. I haven't been able to find anything out as yet.

Hi

That would be Poulton, Wallasey and there was at least one flour mill on the docks close to Chamberlain St. If you google "flour mill"+wallasey you will see an ad, with a photo, for a flat in a converted flour mill at East Float, Wallasey.

Quite a lot of flour mills were in the vicinity. Alas all gone now and the only remaining building is as previously pointed out now being converted to flats.

Chamberlain street is Poulton (formerly Poulton cum Seacombe in old language) Wallasey.

Hi,
Thank you both for your replies, quite sad to see the mill being demolished though. Interesting to know that Poulton was known as Poulton cum Seacomb, as that's where my great grandparents were living on the 1901 census. They are all originally from Denbighshire, North Wales. I'll have to look more into Poulton now.
