Bearman's in Peterborough 1881/ City and Counties Club
« on: Friday 11 February 05 11:25 UTC (UK) »

Just found out that some of the children of my ggg grandfather William Bearman, set up home in Peterborough.  Two brothers William H and Albert Alexander and their sister Emily are all living there on the 1881 census.  Does anyone have any links to these individuals?  William's occupation is Manager of Town Club.  Albert Alexander actually lives at the City and Counties Club Peterborough and his occupation is billiard marker.  Can anyone give me info on this club.  I believe it is still in existance.  Emily was born in Greenwich c 1854.  William born in Plymouth c 1843 and Albert born in Taunton c 1850.  Their parents got around a bit!

Regards

Siouxzie,
Just browsing the Peterborough entries trying to help a friend start her tree and found this un-answered post.

City & Counties Club is definately still in existence but has gone through many changes in its life time.  It is situated in the town centre (near the back of M&S!) and was/is a popular haunt of solicitors as it is smack bang in the area where alot of them have their offices.  If you would like information on them, their telephone number is 01733 557722 (sorry, no website that I can find).  Or I can drop in and ask as I live in the city.  That goes for anything else you need in this area!

Hope this helps
