I just had a reply from George by e-mail. What questions did you want to ask about the Moulds?
I've asked him about what he knows regarding Henry Mould's origins.

I had a quick look on FreeBMD for you, Anne.
what about the entry at September 1861 for Leicester (7a 167) which reads Henry Hillwood Mould?
If you press on the glasses logo and have a look at the actual entry, the first letter is quite faint, and I suspect has been misread by the transcriber. I think it actual may read Millwood.
I know it isn't either Yorkshire or Scotland, but it's worth looking at . Terry

Thanks for your help, again.. I had found the 1871 census which looked promising for Henry M in Leicestershire, probably the same one you've found. I'll check it out further.. just too tired last night! Ref the Mould family in Canada, perhaps George knows what happened to Henry Millwood, he was certainly never mentioned at home.. With regard to the others, Mathew H, Guy M, and Dick ( Richard G) who were my mother's elder 3 brothers, I'd like to know if I have cousins etc still alive? My mother was Laura Sophia . If any of them want to get in touch, my email is *. All I can ask really. I'm in touch with the Scottish Archives, to try to verify, if in fact Laure G was a governess to the Duke of Hamilton. I'll let you know the outcome. Anne

Sounds like it may be the one in freeBMD.
I just had an e-mail from George, so I've passed him your e-mail address.
I had a look through the Canadian census indexes, with no joy, only one entry seemed to be a possible, a place called Souris, Manitoba, in 1911, so I asked him - as he is in Canada, - if that's where he knows Henry to have been.
He says :"Henry Millwood Mould, who married my G. Aunt Marie Louise Johnson, prior to coming to Canada in 1883, did have children born in Canada and later in Scotland. They were separated for many years, and Heny Millwood Mould eventually died in Brandon, Manitoba. His widow Marie Louise Mould died in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, while visiting her sons, and is buried there. As an aside, Henry Millwood Mould was not very popular with the Johnson family. My Grandfather William Louis Johnson, is reported to have signed his homestead in Manitoba over to him, to encourage him to remain in Canada. Mould subsequently secretly sold this homestead to a merchant in Millwood, Manitoba, and departed from Canada. The Johnson family were always close to Mrs Mould and her children, at least three of their sons returned to Canada after the First World War, and several stayed for a time with the Johnsons in Manitoba, before heading to Western Canada. It is believed there was no contact made between Henry Millwood Mould and his three sons who came to Canada, all of whom spent the rest of their lives here.
There are rumors that the hamlet of Millwood, Manitoba, ( now almost a ghost-town ) was named by Henry Millwood Mould, but others suggest it was named as a result of a lumber mill which was operating in that community at that time. Who knows ?"
My big remaining question I think, is who is - I mean was - the Duke of Hamilton?

( continued ).....
"One of his sons told me years ago, that when he first arrived back in Canada, he attempted to locate his Father, who was supposedly working on a farm. He said that he went to the location and saw a man working in a field that he thought was his father, and watched him for a while. He then turned and walked away without making any contact, and never saw his father again."
Isn't that a sad ending to the story?
