Nice easy name to find right...   Roll Eyes
William WILLIAMS was my 3xG grandfather, according to censuses he was born c1817 in Little Rollright, Oxfordshire.
He married Hannah WYATT Q3 1855 Shipston on Stour, Worcestershire.
Hannah was born c1824 in Todenham, Gloucestershire.
I have him on the 1861/71/81 censuses living at Churchill Mill, Churchill, Oxfordshire and 1891/1901 censuses living at The Grange, Churchill, Oxfordshire - son Edward has taken over the Mill, but by 1901 he is living with his father (now an invalid) at The Grange.
There isn't an entry for "Churchill Mill" in 1901, but there is for "Mill House" (occupied by a "Schoolmaster (in institution)" and his family), so it looks as though it was no longer a functioning mill. I wonder what happened to it? Maybe Edward wasn't as good a business man as his father?
They had Edward 1857; Charles 1858; both Todenham, Gloucestershire. Lucy 1860; Arthur 1861; Anne 1863; Emma 1865; Louisa 1867 all born Fritwell, Oxfordshire.

Can anyone help find William WILLIAMS before 1855, and maybe even find his parents.

Hi,  do you have his marriage cert?  If so, what was his father's name and occupation?
Miller?  Might William have had a previous marriage?
There's this chap living near Balscott Mill, Balscott, abt 10 miles from Little Rollright:

Wondering if Edward remarried then died between 1841-1851 - Mill house now occupied by a Hannah Pain, who must also have remarried, and 2 of Edward's daughters:-

Great, would you like to come back and post the details when you get it, hopefully it will show his father was a miller called Edward, and away you go!  Edward might need a bit of sorting out though, but will wait to see if it's the right father before delving too deeply

MC arrived today - William's father is indeed Edward WILLIAMS, a miller.
I shall be getting my head round this one shortly, thanks so much for the great leads.

I am so glad the certificate confirmed his father as Edward cos the transcriptions I have give it as William,  either the transcriptions or possibly the registers themselves have got the wrong name I believe.

The Williams baptisms in Little Rolwright start in 1817 with
William s/o William & Mary

then there is
1818 Hannah d/o Edward & Mary
1821 Jane d/o Edward & Mary
1823 Thomas s/o Edward & Mary
1826 Elizabeth d/o Edward & Mary

There are burials for Mary aged 67 in 1851 and Edward aged 75 in 1856,  so I wonder where Edward was in 1851 ?

I think Hannah Pain is Williams eldest sister not a second wife of Edward,  her marriage isn't in the registers though

I think I might have a marriage for her Q1 1841 Chipping Norton 16 59 but there is a male missing from the list

That burial for Mary in 1851 is actually Nov 19th 1851 and on the same day Harriet Deborah William aged 13 was buried - I wonder if there was some kind of accident?

Anyway having found that Mary ought to be on the 1851 census as well - I think I have found her,  next door but one to Hannah and co staying at a farm where she is a 'washerwoman occasional lab'   It gives her birthplace as Brailes Warks,  which would tie in well with this marriage from the IGI

Just found your request about William Williams from Rollright.
I believe that he is the father of Charles Williams who married Lizetta JOB-BLISS in 1896 in Littlerollright.
I have lots in info about her family and wondered if you have any details that about Charles that would verify that he is William's son.

I can't say I know much about this line - as you see this thread was exceptionally helpful in figuring out the line.

Based on censuses I have William WILLIAMS' children as
1857 - Edward William - b. Todenham
1858 - Charles - b. Todenham
1860 - Lucy Jane - b. Churchill
1861 - Arthur Henry - b. Churchill
1863 - Anne Maria - b. Heythrop
1865 - Emma - b. Churchill
1867 - Louise Matilda - b. Churchill

I notice on the 1901 census where Charles Williams is with Lizetta, he gives his place of birth as Churchill, Oxon
Churchill is/was a tiny place and they moved there not long after Charles' birth. I can't see another Charles WILLIAMS living there on the censuses.
The only way to be sure would be to check the fathers' names on the marriage cert.

From the register transcripts of Little Rollright,  Charles's father is given as William Williams, farmer,  Charles is given as being a 27 year old, farmer living in Daylesford
