Lawler family
« on: Wednesday 17 September 08 22:43 BST (UK) »

Can anyone help with information or suggestions  to find out more infomation on: Peter Lawler born c1811 wife Cathe born c1817, with children Peter born c1837, Hugh c1841,Honora c1844 and Cathe c1847. Hugh and probably all the others were from Queen's County. They then all appear on the 1851 UK census in Liverpool. Hugh marries in UK or Ireland to Ann Bulger and then appears in UK census regularly from 1881 in Halifax West Yorkshire England.
It's the earlier years  I am struggling with most.
Any help would be most apppreciated.
1/10/08 I have just discovered that my grandmother on the other side of the family was born in Laois. MARGARET MURPHY BORN C1879. She obviously moved to Dublin and worked at the Richmond Asylum until she married my grandfather PATRICK MCGURGAN in Dublin in 1903.

Hi Shaun,
If you type in  O Lalor Clan  into your search engine it will give you contacts to the Lalor/Lawler  families in laois.
They have a complete history of all Lalor's and should be able to assist you

Hello Jack,
Thankyou for your suggestion. I've had a quick look (about an hour) and not found anything connected as yet, but will obviously look more closely.
It might be an idea for me to post something on the site and see if anything happens.
Thanks again for your help.
Best wishes,
Shaun.

LAWLERS IN LAOIS
« Reply #4 on: Friday 30 January 09 16:20 GMT (UK) »

I was given some help here back in September and hope I might be able to get some more.
I have some information from Griffiths Valuation but don't really know how to use it to gather further details.
I have traced PETER LAWLER born  c1811 in Laois to Liverpool 1851 census and one of his sons, Hugh born c1848 Laois to W. Yorkshire to present day.
Lawlers in GV that I think might be linked are Peter and Michael in Kilpurcel ,Parish of Donaghmore, Hugh and William in Cullenagh, Killballan and also in Ballybeg, Tankardstown and finally Michael in Ballinree, Tankardstown. Michael leased from John Fleming and c1940 my father went from UK to work at Flemings clay works in Swan, where I was born.
Any help at all would be gratefully received.Thankyou,
Shaun.
