Can anyone help me with proof Jeremiah's parentage (or can I rely on the LDS lineage?)

I believe he first married Mahala Seeley, who died in 1824 with 5 of her children and then married Ann Seeley, a widow, nee Malt, who produced my GG Grandfather, Mark and the surname finally changed to Hirst, on arrival in Yorkshire.

The IGI is probably more reliable than the other LDS online databases such as the Pedigree Resource File etc, but still where possible it ought to be checked against the original Parish Records.

Where did Jeremiah marry in Suffolk and where does the LDS say he was baptised?  It may be worth searching our LOOKUP OFFERS list on RootsChat as well as these parishes offered at The Suffolk Surnames List.

On another site found following however you need to confirm this with parish records

Jeremiah Ost married Mahala Seeley in Brockley 12/12/1813 died 1824 two children found Jeremiah 19/12/1813 Brockley and Mahala 13/01/1818 Brockley
Then married Ann Seeley approx 1825 two children found
Samuel 27/08/1826
Mark 09/06/1833

Burials St Margarets and All Saints Somerton
Mahala Ost-26/10/1824 age 33
Jeremiah Ost-18/09/1848 age 63
Ann Ost-12/02/1856 age 64

If you cannot get to record office you can purchase certain Parish Records online will look now.

Although the SFHS are putting more of Suffolk's PRs on to CD, I'm afraid that they still only represent a tiny fraction of what is available.  However, most of Suffolk's Anglican PRs are available on microfiche from the Suffolk Record Office.  All of the lookups offered at The Suffolk Surname List and I hope from RootsChat are from fiche.
