Can anyone please find for me John Whittaker born Manchester age would be about 38 and Ellen Whittaker age about 31 born Leyland and their family should be living in Barrow in furness Thank you Sue

On first look I have found

Ellen Whittaker age 30 born leyland, Married, General servant, nurse at the Burlington Hotel, Michaelson Road, Barrow.

Did they have any children I can check? I cannot find a John Whittaker to fit those details. There are a couple but married to different people and the only John Whittaker age 38 born Manchester living on his own is single and in Wiltshire.

Any more clues?? Grin

It would really help if you could post all information as there are often problems as in this case.I checked 1881 and found two children. In 1891 these children were recorded here:-

45 Stafford St Barrow in Furness

Mary Whittle Head Widow age 56 Butcher born Leyland
Albert Son age 18 Plumber's apprentice born Barrow
Henry son age 16 Iron moulder's apprentice
Walter son age 14 Painter's apprentice
Mary E Whittaker Grand daughter age 12 born Barrow
Ada Whittaker age 10 born Barrow

I think the guy in Wiltshire is your man because in 1881 he is a saw maker and this chap is a saw sharpener

(Just in case you were wondering?  Augusta Hall is recorded in 1901 with husband and more children. No sign of John)
