A book entitled Newbury Borough Police, 1836-1875 has just been published by the auther, Richard Godfrey.
ISBN 978 0 9560926 01

It includes details on every known policeman who served in this short-lived force as well as lists of special constables.  It also gives interesting background reflecting life in Newbury at that period.
